OFW gives birth at RP labor office in Oman

A Filipino woman gave birth to a baby boy while under the custody of the Philippine Overseas Labor Office (POLO) in Oman, Balitang Middle East reported.“Anita”, not her real name, has been with POLO for only three weeks when she gave birth to her third baby. “Three weeks na ako dito. Nagwo-work ako sa isang family as a babysitter,” Anita said.Widowed with two children, Anita decided to leave for work abroad to give her children a better future. Now, she will be coming home with another child fathered by her Omani boyfriend. She was brought to POLO by her Omani boyfriend. "Mas secure ako dito," she said.Anita reportedly thought of terminating her pregnancy as it is illegal in the Middle East for women to be pregnant out of wedlock."Dahil sa mabilis ang progression ng kanyang labor dahil pangatlong pagbubuntis niya na ay hindi na namin nagawang dalhin pa siya sa hospital. Dito niya naipanganak ang kanyang baby boy," Welfare Officer Dr. Amelito Adel said. After giving birth, the mother and child were brought to the hospital for post natal care, Dr. Adel said."Masayang-masaya ako sa baby dahil blessing. Wala naman akong anak na boy. Iuuwi ko siya sa Pilipinas," said Anita.Embassy officials are concerned for the mother and child."Sa ngayon ay pwede na daw makauwi ang mag ina pero hindi pa tayo masyadong sigurado dahil baka kailanganing i report sa Royal Police yung kaso nila sa kadahilanan nga na hindi kasal yung OFW at ang Omani niyang boyfriend," Adel said.
